If you wanted to edit that footage, you needed to transfer it from the tape to your computer. For instance, MiniDV tape cameras captured video footage on an audiocassette-like tape. Each had its own method of recording video onto media-and its own pros and cons. Back then, there were four types of camcorder: MiniDV tape, MiniDVD, hard drive–based camcorders, and flash-based models.
